Vote now for your fave Somerset businesses in 27 categories

We want to shout from the rooftops (hard in heels, but we’ll give it our best shot) about Somerset’s indy businesses in all their quirky, unmissable, glorious, erm, glory – from food producers to destination pubs, fabulous theatres to clothes shops and art galleries. If you’ve ever been bowled over by a small business that you think deserves recognition for being brilliant, now’s your chance to let everyone know.

Last year, we held our first year of awards in Somerset but they’ve been going for five years in Bucks and Oxon,  and this year they’re running simultaneously across 18 (yes!) counties including, of course, Somerset. Previous winners include Best Jewellery Store Eleanor Christine Jewellery, Best Men’s Boutique Merchant Menswear and Best Hair Salon and Best Day Spa Frontlinestyle.

Spotty Herberts in Bath won Best Children’s Shop last year.

Anyone can nominate a business and entry is gratis, nada, free as a bean.

Nominations open at Muddy Somerset from midday, Weds 3 May and are open until Weds 24 May 2017. There will be a special on-line form on the website so that you can vote during this first round. If you’re a business who’d like to get involved ask a friend to nominate you and you’re away.

All the nominations are then counted up to produce a ‘top 5’ in each category.

The Queens Arms in Corton Denham won Best Destination Pub in 2016.

This runs from Weds 7 – 14 June. We invite everyone to go to a refreshed voting page and cast their votes for their favourite business in each category.

Many of the 27 Muddy Awards 2017 categories are niche, deliberately included to help the cool, small indie businesses who don’t get a look in during bigger, more traditional awards, so *please-please-beg-weep-please* take time to scroll through them and vote in as many categories as you can. It could make all the difference to a brilliant local business.

Winners will be announced on Weds 14 June.  They will receive a unique Muddy Stilettos certificate, Awards window rosette and trophy (optional extra), as well as lots of help gaining coverage in regional and social media – not to mention a glass of two of fizz at a winners’ drinks reception, venue to be announced soon.  Please see below for the full list of categories.
