Muddy says – gorgeous hand-dyed, handwoven and handmade flat caps, scarves, snoods and all sorts of other accessories, combining traditional techniques with 21st century colours and designs
Super-talented Charlotte Martin is passionate about keeping traditional crafts alive, hand dying and hand weaving yarns – cashmere, Shetland wool, lamb’s and alpaca wool amongst others – into beautiful, high quality textiles in all sorts of gorgeous colours and patterns.
She uses the fabric to make men’s flat caps, scarves and snoods for both men and women, as well as little pouches, cuff links, earrings, bangles and other accessories. You can choose from her website or commission bespoke.
Charlotte did a degree at the prestigious University of Creative Arts in Farnham (the UK’s top university for the creative industries), where she specialised in weaving, then spent four years with an award-winning milliner in Surrey before setting up her own business. She’s a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, winning their coveted Pollie Weiss prize for the most exciting use of colour in textiles.
Want to weave yourself? Charlotte runs a range of weaving workshops for beginners upwards throughout the year and will even create bespoke workshops for groups – just get in touch to find out more.
