Muddy says – A gorgeous Arts and Crafts house in Castle Cary is transformed into a little corner of the eastern Mediterranean – and it’s a boutique B&B, too.
Every Friday and Saturday, a gorgeous Arts and Crafts 1910 house in Castle Cary is transformed into a little corner of the eastern Mediterranean. Levant @ Brookfield is the natural offshoot of Tanya Levy’s well-established catering company and offers a broad geographical spread of flavours, from the smoky paprika-laced dishes of Spain to best mezze this side of the Euphrates. And what’s more, the restaurant’s got rooms – read on….
Dining in a family home together with Tanya’s expertise as a relaxed hostess lends for a laid-back atmosphere. In summer you can dine on the pretty terrace with the soundtrack courtesy of the millstream that burbles at the bottom of the garden. In winter, a woodburner makes the dining room so cosy. Wherever possible, ingredients come from within a 20-mile radius of the restaurant (meat is supplied by the renowned Andrew Barclay, the salads are picked from Brookfield’s own garden) and Levant operates a BYO policy so you’ll always be happy with your wine.
Why stop at dinner? Come and stay for a night, weekend or longer at the beautifully decorated house. There are two double boutique rooms and a self-contained apartment. You can even rent the entire house (six bedrooms in all), at certain times of the year. Bookings are through Airbnb.
You can hire the dining room, gardens (and that burbling brook) for a private event too – or Levant can come to you, handling every aspect for everything from an intimate drinks party through to a large wedding or corporate event.
