Middle Stone Farm

Muddy says – nature lovers: come chill in a luxury safari lodge, deckhouse cabin or cottage (with your own hot tub) on a Somerset farm between Exmoor and The Quantocks

Glamping on a 32-acre working farm nestled between Exmoor and The Quantocks in the Somerset countryside, Middle Stone Farm is the perfect spot for nature-loving couples, families and groups. Walk, cycle or just plain old chill. Being in a Dark Sky Reserve, the stars here are awesome.

As from this summer , there will be six luxury canvas Safari Lodges, each with their own wood-fired Swedish hot tub.  Each one has three double bedrooms with proper beds and top quality linen, a well-equipped kitchen with a wood burning stove for cooking, private bathroom, and sitting area with squashy sofa and board games. Outside, there’s a BBQ, hammock, swing ball and a picnic table.

On the other side of the farm is the white-washed Deckhouse Cabin. Think Little House on the Prairie meets mini cricket pavilion. With a king-size bed and bunk-beds, a little kitchen, open-plan sitting room with wood-burning stove and all sorts of books and games, a modern shower room and loo, it’s got everything needed by a couple with two kids.  Relax out on the verandah, fire up the BBQ or jump in the hot tub.

Stable Cottage, attached to the farmhouse, sleeps four in two bedrooms. There’s a comfy sofa, rugs, books, Wifi, wood-burner, brass bedsteads – even an old piano. The terrace has a BBQ, terrace and, of course, its own hot tub.

Pick up supplies including fresh local produce, local maps and info and the weekend papers at their little shop.

Middle Stone Farm is really family friendly, with a playground, toddler tractors and all sorts of interesting animals to see. Come in Spring and help bottle feed orphan lambs and goat kids (aaw!). But everyone’s welcome from couples (with discounts for midweek stays) up to hen parties and large groups.

This rural idyll feels like its in the middle of nowhere but you’re only 30 mins from the M5 and Taunton and within easy reach of the fossil-rich Somerset coast, river beaches at Tarr Steps and Wimbleball Lake, surfing at Croyde, castles, steam trains and more.
