Mill on the Brue Outdoor Activity Centre
Muddy says: thrill-seeking activities in 25 acres of fields, woods and river valley in Bruton. With thoughful instructors, an holistic approach and environmentally aware – this must be the best outdoor centre in the UK
Mill on the Brue have been welcoming children and adults to the Mill on the Brue Outdoor Activity Centre at Trendle Farm in Bruton, Somerset for over 30 years. The Centre is set in 25 acres of fields, woods and a river valley, has an early Victorian farmhouse and converted barns at its heart, and can accommodate up to 95 guests.
Striving to be the best outdoor centre in the UK, they have developed a holistic approach. Their thrill-seeking activities – high ropes, giant zip wires across the river, rafting, water slide, tunnelling, canoeing, climbing, games and tasks – take place in tranquil, beautiful grounds with thoughtful, fun instructors. They grow organic vegetables, rear animals and bees and have carefully planned, healthy menus.
The Centre has always had an environmental and sustainable approach and has held a Gold Sustainable Tourism Award since 2010. They encourage guests to reuse and recycle, to conserve energy and water and to be more aware of their environment.
They’re open throughout the year for residential and day school groups, birthday parties, adult team building and management training, conferences, weddings and special events. In the summer holidays they run residential and day camps for unaccompanied children, up to a third of whom may come from overseas.
