Award-winning gastro pub and free house in the village of Burtle on the Somerset Levels.
Finalists in the 2016 Somerset Life Food and Drink Awards (Best Gastro Pub and Best Newcomer) in their first year of opening, you can enjoy lunch, afternoon tea and dinner seven days a week in an airy rustic restaurant overlooking the garden and ducks or in the snug. They serve honest, great tasting homemade food and the menus, inspired by the season and world cuisines, change regularly.
Sit in the generous pub bar area and knock back a local beer or cider from your armchair, a Chesterfield sofa by the fireside or perched on a stool up at the bar – you can eat in this part of the pub with your dog. Their function room caters for 120 people – weddings, parties, families and business gatherings – and has its own skittle alley, stage, log burner, dance floor and state of the art sound system. Coming soon: two cottages for overnighting and holiday rental.
They’re only 10 mins from the M5, 20 minutes from Glastonbury and on the edge of spectacular nature reserves including the Avalon Marshes.
Open every day, 12 noon ’til late: lunch 12-3pm; dinner 6pm; Sunday lunch all day; afternoon tea 3-6pm. Kids, dogs, wheelchairs all welcome.
