The Gardener’s Cottage is a lovely property built in 1711 with extensive views over the walled garden – blooming with produce, espaliered fruit trees and flowers – of Newton House, a Jacobean manor house with orchard and parkland. The cottage has its own pretty herbaceous front garden and is decorated with timeless elegance and eclectic contemporary flair.

The cottage sleeps two adults. There are two sitting rooms, one with an open fire (kindling, coal and logs provided; there’s central heating, too) and the second next to the luxurious double bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Bed linen, towels, dressing gowns, sample size toiletries and hairdryer are all provided. There are two televisions, DVDs and lots of information about places to visit and places to eat.

The well-equipped kitchen/dining room has a range cooker. We leave fresh flowers and herbs, freshly laid eggs, a homemade cake, butter, milk and a small bottle of hand-crafted Newton House Gin, distilled in our old dairy, for you to enjoy. A stable door leads to a private terrace and herb garden with a large gas BBQ and a charcoal BBQ.

Enjoy the wonderful gardens, dip your toes in the river Yeo meandering through 60 acres of parkland or wander in the orchard and admire our chickens. Bring a fishing rod and wellies, a favourite DVD or a book and bottle of wine to chill, relax – and have a wonderful break away in a beautiful setting.
