Muddy says – high quality, new and exciting wines from around the world on a constantly changing, well-priced wine list … hic!
What a jammy job. Schlepping around, sipping and selecting exciting, high quality wines for the rest of us to enjoy.
With over 30 years in the wine trade, Paddy Magill, owner of Vine Wine in the countryside near Taunton, knows his onions, or rather, his grapes. His philosophy? Good honest wines at good honest prices.
There are around 120 wines available at any one time – red, white, rose, Champagne, sparkling, fortified, dessert – from all over the world, including, at the mo, good old Dorset. Some are familiar, others are not. They change very frequently, so keep an eye on his website. Prices? As a guide, currently a 2015 Les Oliviers Rouge, Melot/Mouvedre, Pays d’Oc comes in at £7; a Fontessa Prosecco at £10.50 and with the exception of magnums of Ayala Brut Majeur Champagne at £59, everything’s well under £30.
Did I mention the gin? There’s a Somerset gin called Newton House Gin at £35.50 a bottle.
Paddy offers all wines on a sale or return for weddings and parties, etc as well as a free glass loan service. If you run a pub or hotel and want to look at a new and exciting wine list, he’s got a wholesale list, too.
He also holds regular wine tastings (sometimes with delicious food) and wine courses at his own home and elsewhere in Somerset. So if you’d like to knock some back – I mean sniff and sip and learn a little more about – wine, then get in touch.
