Funky, fun finds

The Bruton Decorative Antiques Fair is back – with free tickets to give away and a chance to win lunch with wine for two at the Roth Bar and Grill

Walking around the first – and totally fabulous – Bruton Decorative Antiques Fair  last October was like stepping into the pages of a really cool interiors magazine. Beautifully displayed architectural salvage, folk art, painted furniture from posh country houses, unusual lighting and textiles, mid-century modern furniture and some eye popping vintage jewellery and designer handbags – lots to inspire and to buy (of course) at the Somerset offspring of the famous Bath Fair.

The Bruton Fair’s returning for a second time to the Haynes International Motor Museum from Friday 13–Sunday 15 October.  As before, a carefully curated selection of dealers from around the UK, including some of Somerset’s finest, like The Factory in Castle Cary, will be tempting us all with their wares.

The Factory’s owned by David Tupman, who’s been in the antiques biz up in London for 30 years – his son still sells regularly at the famous Portobello Road Market.  He and his wife Clare (an acclaimed sculptor working primarily in stainless steel) have renovated and re-furbed an old red-brick Victorian pasteurising factory alongside Castle Cary railway station.  With a great contacts book, David was able to persuade seven dealers from Bath, Brighton, Devon, London and Somerset to fill its two floors with all manner of fascinating stuff.

You can find The Factory at the Fair, along with all the other dealers – and BBC Antiques Roadshow expert Mark Hill who will be strolling around offering tips on mixing traditional and decorative antiques as well as selecting key collector’s pieces.

Tickets to the Fair are £5 but you can get a FREE TICKET here. Take it with you to enter a draw to win lunch with wine for two at the Roth Bar & Grill, the super cool restaurant at the internationally acclaimed art gallery Hauser & Wirth in Bruton. Nice prize.

The Fair’s on at the Haynes International Motor Museum from Friday 13 October 2pm–5pm and Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 October from 11am–5pm. Entrance is £5 but you can get a FREE TICKET here.
