Muddy says: Hand-blown glassware, inspired by nature, created by one of the UK’s best-known glassblowers – Will Shakspeare – in Langport
Will Shakspeare is one of the UK’s leading glassblowers, creating wonderful objects to use, hold and enjoy, in his workshop on the banks of the River Parrett in Langport, on the edge of the Somerset Levels.
Working with molten glass heated to over 1000 degrees – eek – he makes everything from Christmas baubles, through drinking vessels, vases, jugs, dishes, paperweights and lampshades, right up to impressive hanging artworks.
Inspired by nature, his designs are constantly evolving and the results beautiful.
Prices start at around £10 and go up into the thousands (those hanging artworks).
Watch him glass blowing in his workshop (or have a go yourself at one of his teaching sessions), buy glass in the factory shop, glass and work by other artists in the gallery and nab a coffee and homemade cake while you’re at it. Free parking right outside, by the way.
