The Barrington Boar
Muddy says: Sink a pint, scoff sensational, seasonal food or while a weekend away at this village pub with rooms in the village of Barrington, near Ilminster
Husband and wife team chef Alasdair Clifford (ex-Michelin star Chez Bruce) and Victoria Collins took over The Barrington Boar in 2018. They’ve retained a traditional and welcoming pub atmosphere but have created an inventive, locally sourced – and beautifully – presented menu mixing Modern British comfort food with European cuisine. It’s a combination that has already won them both Finalist and Gold Taste of the West 2018/19 awards. Impressive.
Sunday lunches are exceptional (we know, we’ve been) and their regular 5-course tasting menu evenings sound spectacular (on our to-do list).
Four en suite bed and breakfast rooms, each with king size bed, shower, flat screen TV and WiFi if you want to enjoy the local area’s assorted historic houses, old towns and gorgeous countryside. Breakfasts are said to be stonking.
