The Shed, Milverton

Muddy says: Vast luxury barn with indoor pool, cinema room, squashy sofas and roaring fires on the edge of Somerset’s beautiful Blackdown Hills

Heated indoor pool, hot tub, cinema room, vast communal areas with squashy sofas around a roaring log fire, giant dining table for huge feasts, games room, piano (yep, they’ve thought of everything), The Shed – actually a huge luxury barn – is perfect for a fun fest with a big group of friends or one or two families.

Set in 1.5 acres in between the Quantock Hills, Exmoor National Park and the Blackdown Hills, The Shed sleeps 14 in five en suite rooms with a further six in three en suites rooms in the separate cottage Little Bickley, which has its own hot tub and woodburner.

Sure, both The Shed and Little Bickley have fully equipped bespoke kitchens but you could just make yourself a Nespresso or pour a glass of fizz and wait for your food – fine dining from private chefs, homemade food hampers and outdoor eats – to arrive. Yoga, beauty and spa treatments *sigh* are also available.

Coming with kids? No problem. There are cots and high chairs, garden games, a climbing wall and playhouse for the little darlings.

If you don’t get distracted by the trampoline and BBQ en route, there are footpaths leading into the glorious Somerset countryside and clay pigeon shooting, archery, quad bikes, rafting and horse riding, local pubs and tearooms all nearby; the Devon and North Somerset coast are within 45 mins.

There’s an incredible feeling of peaceful isolation with lovely views of the Blackdown Hills but don’t worry, there’s 4G connectivity and WiFi and you’re only 10 – 15 mins from the M5, 20 mins from Taunton (mainline station) and under 40 mins to Exeter airport.

And yes, you can bring your own helicopter (phew).
