Muddy says: Dive into the new generation of natural swimming pools – swimming ponds and ‘living’ swimming pools
Imagine floating around in a beautifully landscaped garden pond filled with giant water lilies. Or diving into a traditional-looking crystal clear swimming pool that doesn’t leave you with sore, red eyes and reeking of chlorine. Welcome to the new generation of swimming pools: swimming ponds and ‘living’ swimming pools, which use a chemical-free filtration system, designed and built by Dorset-based Water Artisans.
Swimming ponds – a combination of pond and swimming pool – can be built in almost any shape to fit into the landscape or create a new one, and planted with wildlife-friendly aquatic plants. Heat from the sun and ambient temperature keeps the water warm.
Living swimming pools – which look like conventional swimming pools but without any of the chemicals – can be heated artificially and covered.
The family-run business, headed up by Ben Garner, are official partners of the world renowned and well-established BIOTOP chemical-free filtration system, which keeps the water clean and safe, and the ponds and pools easy to maintain and inexpensive to run.
Already got a pool? They can convert it to a living swimming pool by replacing certain components of the existing filter system and build, or remodel it completely with decking, aquatic planting and rock streams.
Just want a fabulous water feature in your garden? Yep, they can do that, too.
Whatever it is you’re after, each design and build will be unique. Just get in touch to discuss your project – they cover the whole of the south of England.
