GBBO contestant: Rosie Brandreth-Poynter

Five things you may not know about the Somerset baker as she whisks into Week Seven of the Great British Bake Off

Phew, despite the dropped custard tart last week *splat *  Somerset vet Rosie has roared back into the game with a chicken showstopper made out of biscuits, so (Viennese) fingers crossed for Week Seven.  In the meantime, here are a few things you may not know about our local gal…

She got the baking bug young.

Her love of baking started after she was given a children’s baking book at the age of five.

She had penguins on top of her wedding cake

Her two best friends made her three-tier wedding cake with red velvet, lemon and blueberry and Victoria sponge decorated with stained glass windows of assorted animals and reptiles, with penguins on top instead of people.

Her bakes are inspired by her rural surroundings

Of course they are, she lives in bucolic bliss in Somerset: from the orchards next door to the fresh eggs laid by her ducks and chickens.

Patisserie is her passion

Her go-to bake is a little box of mixed pastries.

She’d like to be stuck in a lift with Steven from Series 8

Purely because his bakes were so creative, she says;  his interesting ideas would make the time just fly by.

Catch Rosie on The Great British Bake Off, Tuesdays, Channel 4 at 8pm.
