Stony Street House, Frome

Brand new wine bar, restaurant and coffee with all day dining in the very best location in Frome – looking right up the iconic, cobbled Catherine Hill (Somerset’s answer to the Hovis ad) – on the two-storey site of the former Sam’s Kitchen Deli.

With 350 wines from around the world, 10 wines on tap in refillable bottles (great idea), small plates, sharing boards of local cheeses and West Country charcuterie, and sourdough pizzas from their wood fired oven, we say: see you there.

Class, Bath

No excuse not to get fitter with a slick new fitness studio just opened in Bath’s new Riverside development. Classes designed by the team behind HEALTH, assorted forms of yoga by Simona Hernandez of Yoga Bodhi and all sorts of high-intensity body workouts and bodyweight training.  Sound a bit hardcore? You can relax, as everything’s available as Upper Class sessions for those who are new to regular exercise or over 60. Healthy grub, barista coffee and recovery smoothies (phew) in The Vital Cafe.

Mollie’s Motel and Diner, coming soon to Bristol

Photo: copyright Soho House

Soho House (the people behind Babington House) have turned their gaze across the pond, with their own (very stylish) take on the American 1950s motel, diner and drive-thru. The first Mollie’s has opened in Buckland, Oxfordshire,  with further branches to follow – including one just up the road in Cribbs Causeway in Bristol. Watch this space.

In the meantime, road test the original and report back?
