I’d always assumed loofahs were a sponge but it turns out they’re a giant cucumber thingy – and it’s harvest time.  Join the gardeners in the greenhouses of Ston Easton Park to find out how to grow, harvest, skin and de-seed your own loofah.  Lunch and wine included.

Starring Jason Donovan as Sam Philips, the man who brought them all together. Toons include Blue Suede Shoes, Fever, That’s All Right, Sixteen Tons, Great Balls of Fire, Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On, Who Do You Love? and Hound Dog.

Jongleurs On The Road at the Curzon Cinema & Arts, Clevedon, Fri 25 Nov

Acts at the mic include feisty tri-lingual Scot Maureen Younger, high energy, thought-provoking Jason Patterson and Australian Wayne Deakin who recently performed stand up on the summit of Mount Everest – as you do.

glu%cc%88hwein-zubereitungChristmas fairs are popping up all over the place and this one looks a goodie as they’re opening a new farm shop on the same day, selling all local Somerset/Dorset foods and drink. Copious supplies of mulled will be on hand to keep you going as you peruse the wares, you poor dears. 10am-3pm.

From the red to the black: this is the gallery’s winter exhibition showcasing 30 makers and artists  – ceramacists, jewellers, painters, printmakers – who started their careers at the Black Swan. Oh and there’s Christmas shopping too. Preview (open to all) at 6pm on Sat 26 Nov.
