Banging fireworks!


Fantastic Fireworks, Longleat House & Gardens, nr Warminster, Thurs 1 – Sun 3 Nov

The theme of this year’s firework display at Longleat House is ‘epic’. If the fireworks and classic soundtrack match the setting of the historic house and stunning grounds, it certainly will be.


Light up Lansdown, Bath Racecourse, Bath, Fri 2 Nov

A biggie, with fairground, assorted kids’ entertainment, massive bonfire and fireworks. The jacket potato feasts sound good too. Gates opens 5pm, with fireworks at approx 7.45pm.


Downend Round Table Fireworks, Downend, Bristol, Fri 2 Nov

Now in its 47th year, with pulled pork, burgers, candy floss and Great Western Brewing in charge of the bar. This year’s charity is Bristol Sands, part of the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society.  Gates open 5.30pm; children’s display (more visual effects than loud bangs) 6.30pm; main display (some ear cracking whoppers), 8pm.


Fireworks at Forde, Forde Abbey, nr Chard, Sat 3 Nov

Eco glitter bar and glow jewellery, fire dancers, theatre, pipes and drums, burgers, Otter beers, wine and a bonfire procession – then let the music and fireworks begin! Set within a Capability Brown garden with the historic Abbey as a backdrop, this should be spectacular. Buy tickets online and get a 20% discount. Gates open from 5.30pm; procession 6.20pm; fireworks from 7pm.


Yeovil Fireworks, Yeovil Showground, Yeovil, Sat 3 Nov

Now in it’s 50th glorious year. Have your pic taken with Marvel Avengers Superheros, play air guitar along with Snakebyte. Royal Navy  Volunteer Band from HMS Heron will be doing their thang before and during the fireworks. Maybe scoff the hog roast and burgers after a whirl on the funfair?  Run by the Yeovil Lions in aid of the Yeovil Opportunity Group and Yeovil Freewheelers.  Gates open 5pm; fireworks 8.15pm


Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Weekend, around Bridgwater, Sat 3 Nov

Not a conventional fireworks display but the squibbing – the simultaneous firing of large fireworks along the road to create a huge trail of fire – is unique. The biggest and best of the famous illuminated Somerset carnivals with samba, marching bands, choirs street performers and those spectacular illuminated floats. Festivities start 10.30am with squibbing at 10.45pm. See the website for full info, including where to park (essential).


Puxton Park, Hewish, nr Weston-super-Mare, Sat 3 Nov

Got Littlies? This one might be good for you. As well as the fireworks, there are kids’ rides, a hog roast and BBQ and their 3-storey soft playbarn’s open too. Open from 5pm to 9pm, with fireworks at 7pm.


Clarks Village, Street, Sat 3 Nov

Oooh, aah and then go shop. A free pyrotechnic display, Xmas lights switch on and retail therapy at the outlet shopping centre. Fireworks at 7pm; shops stay open until 8pm.


Bath Rotary Club Fireworks, Bath Recreation Ground, Bath, Sat 3 Nov

With Bath Abbey as backdrop, and all in aid of charity, this year, primarily Bath City Farm.  Gates open 5.30pm, with fireworks from 7pm.


Bonfire night, Oake Manor, Taunton, Sat 3 Nov

Fireworks on a golf course and a disco afterwards. Gates open at 5pm.


Hatch Fireworks at Taunton Racecourse, Taunton, Mon 5 Nov

Said to be Taunton’s largest bonfire night, with bar, kids’ rides, hog roasts, fish ‘n’ chips and fireworks set off to music. In association with local radio station Tone FM and raising money for The Alzheimer’s Society. Gates open from 5.30pm; fireworks at 7pm.


Fireworks to Music Spectacular, Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park, Mon 5 Nov

The chance to walk on hot coals in a sponsored firewalk (eek) in aid of the children’s hospice, the Jessie May Trust, as well as fireworks, funfair, food and licensed bar. Special area set aside for sparklers. Gates open 5.30; sparklers 6pm; fireworks at 7.15opm.


Charity Firework Fiesta, Canford Park, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, Sat 10 Nov

No bonfires, no fun fairs, just a stonking fireworks display, run by the Bristol Round Table and Rotary Club of Bristol


Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare, Sat 17 Nov 

Fireworks at sea. Buy a ticket to view from the pier, from 6pm.
