Every kind of outdoor pursuit on top of Britain’s largest gorge, from trail-running and rock climbing to caving and foraging.  Plus a once-a-year chance to camp out under the stars above the iconic Blackrock, looking down through the gorge.  Weekend and day tickets.

Garden lovers and garden experts get together with crafts, BBQ, live music and loads of stalls selling unusual and popular plants – plus the RHS’s own Gardener’s Question Time.


Longleat Food & Drink Festival, Warminster,  Sat 23 & Sun 24 June

Cooking classes with celeb chefs The Hairy Bikers and James Martin, food and drink stalls, vintage cars and fairground rides – oh, more hairy men: The Wurzels.


The Importance of Being Earnest, Montacute House, Montacute Fri 22 June and Greenway Farm Hall, Taunton Sat 23 June

Blankets and picnic baskets at the ready for The Pantaloon’s open-air production of Wilde’s famous play. Always great fun, even in the rain. Not that it will rain, oh no.


St Catherine’s Summer Pop up, around St Catherine Hill, Frome, Sat 23 June

It’s all happening on mid-summer’s eve on the hill. Shops and biz opening their doors until 9pm, with music, pop-up events, workshops galore. Pottery demos and summer cocktails at SEED, Best Gift Shop in the Muddy Awards; Pearl Lowe garden party at Lark Vintage; Cruxland Gin Tasting at Six, Hong Kong bubble waffles at Resident and free dog-safe ice creams at Winston James Woof.


Luxury Summer Wine Tasting with Novel Wines at Harington’s Hotel, Bath, Sun 24 June

Six great wines for sipping in the sun, as selected by the experts at Best Wine Merchant in Somerset Novel Wines. Bath’s oldest cheesemonger, Nibbles, will be supplying the yellow stuff. All taking place at the boutique Harington’s Hotel in the centre of Bath. Just one of Novel Wine’s regular wine events, suitable for wine buffs or novices.


Dusty, Theatre Royal, Bath, Sat 23 June – Sat 7 July

World premiere of a new musical about the iconic singer written by Jonathan Harvey, directed by Maria Friedman and starring Katherine Kingsley and Rufus Hound.
