Wouldn’t you though?
Call me a sad sack but one of my life’s little pleasures is writing the very first words in a pristine pages of a brand new diary (you know: Sue, Muddy Stilettos, Somerset, England, UK, The World, The Universe…). Even though I’ve got an iPhone with a calendar app, etc, I still like to keep a proper diary in my bag/on the desk, and this year, I want that diary to be one of these rainbow-hued Leuchtturm1917 planners (they don’t call them diaries) from Postscript Frome.
Leuchtturm1917 is a German family-run firm which has been making top quality stationery since, well, 1917, and their weekly and daily planners and notebooks definitely have a traditional or ‘heritage’ feel, albeit in 21st century colours. So pages are stitched together, not glued; the paper’s acid-free and ink proof so you can write in the planner with an ink pen if you like and the design is cool and functional. Then there are the glorious colours: purple, pink, red, orange, lemon, lime, emerald, navy, army green, taupe, anthracite and, if you insist, black. I’m thinking lime – which colour would you choose?
The planners include lots of clever little details, like perforated detachable sheets for making notes, a concertina-like pocket in the cover, a couple of bookmarks – and some stickers so that you can label pages. There’s even an extra booklet for birthdays and addresses that you can carry over to next year and into your new diary, oops, I mean planner. An elasticated band keeps the book closed.
Planners come in different formats: a pocket A6 week-to-view planner (£13.50), a day-to-view planner (£17.50), an A5 weekly planner (£17.50) and daily planner (£21.50) .
Leuchtturm1917 make all sorts of notebooks, note pads and sketchbooks in different sizes, formats and colours – and Postscript Frome stocks most of them.
