Wouldn’t you though?
Okay, so there might not be any actual sun at the moment, but just popping a pair of these über cool beauties will make you feel all summery. Monokel is a unisex sunglass label based in Stockholm (that explains the mix of simplicity, style and function) but I found them in Resident, the new lifestyle shop on Catherine Hill in Frome. If you can’t get over to Frome (though you really should, it’s a fab place), you can also buy online.
Loving the opaque pinkiness of this pair…
The spec for the specs: they’re made by hand from premium acetate, with stainless steel hinges, Teflon coated steel screws (these screws ain’t going anywhere) and have 100% UV protective Carl Zeiss Vision lenses. One size fits all.
They come in different colourways and styles:
Whatever style suits you sir, will come in a neat little leather and metal case.
As well as sunglasses, James Borley and Greg Avis of Resident have put together a beautifully curated collection of stylish home wares, accessories, stationery, skincare and grooming products (including everyone’s must-have product: beard tonic). Brands include ceramics by designer-maker Louise Madzia, skincare by Herbivore and Kiyoko and throws by Maya Meuble.
Currently, Resident is a pop up while works continue on the building; the shop will open in its full glory in the Autumn, with plans for supper clubs and other events, plus a quarterly focus on a resident maker/designer, hence the name.
Shop opening hours: Thursday-Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm (first Sunday of the month) but online 24/7.
