This week

Monday 19-Sunday 25 June

Thoroughly Modern Millie, Bristol Hippodrome, Tues 20-Sat 24 June

Photo: Darren Bell

Kansas girl wants to make it big in 1920s New York City.  With Strictly Come Ballroom Champ Joanne Clifton as flapper Millie Dillmount, the dancing (including a Fred and Ginger routine on a window sill), is sure to be breathtaking. Review to follow shortly. Tickets.

Summer Solstice Festival, Stonehenge, Tues 20-Weds 21 June

Your only chance of the year to get right up close to those rocks  – at sunset and sunrise. This is on my bucket list. FREE.

Glastonbury, Weds 21-Sun 25 June

Can’t miss this baby out. If you’re going, enjoy. Everyone else stay well clear of the area at the beginning and the end unless you want to spend most of the day stuck in a traffic jam.

Landscape of Objects until Fri 27 October and The Forde Ensemble, Forde Abbey, Chard, Thurs 22 June

Wander around the newly installed sculpture trail inspired by the landscapes at this former Cistercian Abbey and curated by Yvonna Demczynska from Flow Gallery in London. Included in normal admission ticket. Forde Abbey’s Great Hall’s got an amazing acoustic but don’t take my word for it, you can listen to the Forde Ensemble, a string quartet made up of leading musicians, playing Mozart and Brahms this Thurs evening. Tickets.

Salome, National Theatre Live, various venues across Somerset, Thurs 22 June

Can’t make it up to the National on Thurs? Never mind, their re-telling of the story of Salome (the women who asked for the head of John the Baptist as a reward for dancing and getting her kit off) is being live-screened somewhere near you.  Find your nearest venue.

A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, The Brewhouse, Taunton, Fri 23-Sat 24 June

Ballet Cymru’s version of Willy Wagglesword’s famous play, with Titania, Puck, Bottom an’ all. Tickets.

Rough Runner, Easter Compton, Bristol, Sat 24-Sun 25 June

Fit types may want to put themselves through gruelling obstacle courses inspired by Total Wipeout, Gladiators and Takeshi’s Castle. Think sweeper arms, giant pigeon battles, big balls and The Travelator. Tickets.
