Father’s Day

Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 June

Petrolhead Dads

Any excuse to get a pic of Don Draper on the blog. Take the keys and go for a spin around Somerset’s country lanes in a McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin or Mustang super car at the Haynes Motor Museum, Sat 17 & Sun 18 June.  Take a pic of Dad behind the wheel of a classic car display at Tyntesfield  on Sat 17 Jun – or let him feast his eyes on around 500 classic, vintage cars and bikes at the Bath Festival of Motoring on Sat 17 & Sun 18 June.

Food lovin’ Dads

Sizzling BBQ but he’s not cooking – leave it up to the chefs at Hestercombe House who’ll be flipping over handmade burgers etc and veggie options and serving up with sides, salads and sauces before everyone plays games on the Marquee lawn (giant Connect 4 anyone?). Sun 18 June. For something a little spicier,  head up to Bath for the Magic of Thailand, a two-day festival with authentic Thai cuisine, Thai kick boxing, beer, massage…and a family fun fair.

Dads who want to be kids again

Hold your Dad’s phone while he dives into the adult’s ball pit up in The Lantern at the Colston Hall in Bristol.

Lazy afternoon Dads

Bring a blanket and some booze and while/snooze away the afternoon to the sound of the Cafe Street Stompers, Jazz on the lawn, Barrington Court, Sat 17 & Sun 18 June. If you can’t be bothered to throw together a picnic, you can buy food there. Free with normal admission.

Dads with a head for heights

We’re not saying he’s full of hot air but …Treat your Dad to a hot air balloon trip over the city of Bath and surrounding countryside. Spot the Roman Baths, the Abbey and Avebury stone circle. Bailey Balloons in Bath flew David Attenborough over the Alps when he was filming Planet Earth II.
