Meet Mister Maker (I mean, literally)

Cutting out, covering things with glitter and singing songs with oversized triangles and squares – an unusual job for a grown man. Yet CBeebies star Phil Gallagher aka Mister Maker in the eponymous BAFTA-nominated arts and crafts programme and theatre show is a global sensation. He’s certainly kept the Muddies quiet for a good few hours with his simple, fun makes (thanks Phil). Now the hit show Mister Maker & The Shapes Live 2017 is coming to Yeovil’s Octagon Theatre on Sunday 23 July. We’ve got a family ticket (two adults, two kids or one adult, three kids  worth £48) to give away free – and you’ll get to meet Mister Maker after the show, too!

All you have to do is LIKE & FOLLOW the Somerset Muddy Stilettos Facebook Page and write the name of your favourite Mister Maker ‘make’ in the comment box. I’ll pick a winner at noon on Tuesday 18 July.

In the meantime, the Muddies had a few pressing questions for Mr M:

Your favourite make it in a minute? It has got to be the Pompom Bug. I used to make them with my Grandad when I was a child. We used to make homemade pompoms out of wool.

Sticky backed plastic or old loo rolls? It would have to be the latter. We try to recycle materials in order to turn something ordinary into something extraordinary.

What do you want to be when you grow up? My Mum and Dad keep asking me that! I always wanted to be a children’s TV presenter…it has been a dream to realise that ambition.

Five must-have craft items in your doodle drawer ? Pompoms, pipe cleaners, glue stick, googly eyes, scissors…

Who inspires you?  I used to love the CBBC Broom Cupboard Presenters. Phillip Schofield, Andi Peters and the gang were my heroes – and they still are.

Who cleans up your mess? I really enjoy cleaning. I also do lots of the washing of our costumes for the live tour – I love it!

Funniest joke? I’m a big Tim Vine fan – so any of the millions he can recite. How about: Exit signs – they’re on the way out…

Performances 1.30pm & 4pm. Tickets: adults £15.50; children £12; family saver ticket £48 (two adults, two kids or one adult, three kids).

My little girl loves making the silhouette skylines with foam buildings. Also pom pom spiders.
